Here we have a great Blue Note reissue of Somethin’ Else by Cannonball Adderly. I am very fond of this record – it is a beautiful one, with amazing playing on it and this is a great condition copy of it. It isn’t perfect, but none of the imperfections get in the way – I will try to show it all to you below.
The cover is in nice shape overall, but has some repaired and existing minor damage. Notably, there was a tear in it, look on the front under the “..SE” of ELSE, and directly across from it. Also note it on the back cover, where it is smaller, on the left side. On the front, I think it was glued – I thought is was just a crease at first, but saw how it carried thru the cover. Again, the impact of it overall is kind of minor, but it may have been more serious, and was repaired well. Let the pictures show you…the edges are all good with one small bump near the opening, bottom right edge, front side, and one tiny bump in the middle of the spine.
On the back note the small ball point underlined R upper left, and the tear a couple inches under it. Note the water stains on the opposite side, and some slight ring/shelf wear. Not fraying, not in bad shape other than what’s noted.
The inner is original, but is pretty useless as an inner (fully split), so I put it in a plain white inner in the plastic 3 mil outer. I will include the inner of course, but it would be better wall art than anything useful to the record’s care.
The wax is really nice here – cleaned up better than I was expecting, really. I ran it quickly through a Spin Clean, and did not see anything to really report. It has super minor marks from storage at best, but nothing that impeded my enjoyment of the playback. Use the video clip to see the wax on both sides (under a light), and you can hear it too. It plays really well, with occasional pops/light crackle from the storage scuffery. Judge it yourself – I thought it was super nice.
