Here is the Gigi Gryce Clifford Brown Sextet ten inch on its original Blue Note label. It is glorious, as you’ll see!
There is no pic sleeve, so this will come in a generic sleeve and a new cover. That’s unfortunate, because the cover is cool, but it is what I found.
The wax is pretty amazing though, especially for this one – I didn’t see a mark on it from storage or from a needle. There are no marks on the label near the spindle hole, like most records will have when they are played a bunch. The labels on both sides are minty and you see it has the deepgroove, the right logo/address and the “ear” mark to indicate the right pressing.
Normally, I would run the record thru the Spin Clean before taking pictures, but I didn’t do anything to this one – it is as I found it. A word of warning too: some Blue Note labels have very testy ink, and if they get wet, the ink can run. I don’t put Blue Note records in the Spin Clean anymore, and am super careful cleaning them – but it is the really early ones in particular to be gentle as a baby with. I learned the hard way on a Jimmy Smith record, so don’t do that! 😉
I took pix both for zooming, and 2 under a super bright light, so anything at all, no matter how minute, will show for you – you’ll see the vinyl is fantastic. Click on any image to zoom – use the browser’s BACK button to return here.
I didn’t even spin it, as much as I want to, because I will leave that honor to the buyer…it looks like a virgin to me. I think it is perfect, but it is only my opinion. Judge for yourself – you should be able to see it very clearly.
Let me know if you need to see more – I have ordered new sleeves I am waiting on, and will have them later this week. Happy to answer any questions…but you rarely see rare records like this is such minty shape. Blue Notes, especially!
