Here we have a lovely copy of Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers – A Night in Tunisia on Blue Note, 4049.
This is a top copy of a used record – you generally don’t find original Blue Note’s in this kind of shape. There is some age/discoloration on the back cover – mostly up in the top 2-3 inches, some age spotting/foxing up there, and really, that is about it. Edges and spine are all solid, no bumping. No real shelf wear or anything on front – laminate strong and shiny. No tears, nothing else to report.
The inner was probably replaced – it’s plain white, and Blue Note usually used their own branded sleeves. Might be original though.
The wax is truly great too, showing zero indication of ever being played. Most records have marks around the spindle hole from people putting it on the turntable – this one has none of that, and no needle marks anywhere. No storage scuffs or other damage to report either – just wonderfully clean wax…looks like a NM playback is certain.
This is as nice as a used record gets, and for a first run Blakey on Blue Note, it is a stunning find in 2023.
