Here we are looking at Bill Evans’ Interplay on Riverside.
The cover of this one has a little bit of water related damage to the bottom right corner. I took a zoomed pic of both the front and back for you, but it does show on both sides. Beyond that, the cover is actually in decent shape.
This one has the original inner in it, but I put it in a new one to better protect the wax.
The wax on this one shows some scuffing – so I wanted to spin it, to see how they played. On side one, there is more background noise than on side 2, but there is some stuff on both sides. I never found it overpowering the music, in fact most often it kind of blends into the whole of it. But it depends on your tolerance levels too, I suppose – a little surface noise doesn’t tend to irritate me, unless it is a constant click that won’t go away. On this one, the way the band is mixed and the nature of the songs themselves helps to hide the surface noise, if that makes sense – to me, it was not a problem, especially on most of it – but there was some notable stuff to mention on side one…I don’t want you to be surprised by it, so I would rather be over descriptive about it than under. I took a video clip to try to show you the storage scuffing better – you can see it pretty clearly in the light, but it is wispy stuff, so you need to look for it.
I LOVED this one in playback though – none of the noise bothered me much at all, and the playing is just fantastic. If you wanna hear it, I can try to do a clip, but usually that doesn’t translate super well…let me know.
