Here we are looking at James Clay’s a Double Dose of Soul.
This one is a little worn, which is a shame because the record is soooo good! I don’t find the noise gets in the way, but let me describe it for you. The cover has some age/wear to the front and back panels, though they are still holding up well. The spine is gone, so edge blowouts are the thing here. In a protective plastic sleeve it looks OK, but I wouldn’t go much futher than that. A plain inner, likely replaced at some point – I can give you a new one if you like.
The wax has some marks on it. Some look to be from storage, some look like they might be play related. The combo leave a little underlying noise thru most of it but not so much it annoys me. I did hear some pops occasionally – I don’t think there was anything that was steady or repeated, but there are a few random pops.
What I did in the video was to find the worst spot I could after listening to the whole record. I played and recorded it – if it is ok for you, you should be very happy with the rest of it. The playing is awesome, the record pressing is not the best – and the surface noise isn’t awful, but isn’t great…which is why the record is only $40. I stand on that – it is well worth the $40, and I only wish it was in better shape.
