Here we will be looking at 2 wonderful Blue Note records – Horace Silver Quintet’s Horace-Scope, and Wayne Shorter’s The All Seeing Eye.
The Wayne Shorter record is in very nice shape. The cover is clean on both sides, with a little normal wear/age showing, but nothing major. There is a little bumping on the top edge (about 1-2 inches by the upper left corner), and a very small nick/mark you can see in the upper right. The spine is solid, and the edges are not splitting – they just have a little bit of wear to note. Overall, the cover is in nice shape, but it is not perfect, and noted as such.
The original 27 Year paper inner is in here, but I put the record in a new sleeve a while back to help protect her. Labels are perfect on both sides, and there is no indicators that this one got a lot of play…typically, you can see it around the spindle holes when they were played a bunch, and this has none of those marks.
The wax itself is also lovely – I did find one super small mark in between tracks 1-2, but it is pretty inconsequential from what I can see…I didn’t spin it to be sure, but I don’t think it’ll play – it simply wasn’t deep enough to matter (it was a paper scuff, visible only under high, bright light). Given its value though, if you want me to spin it and clip a video I certainly can do so.
Ah, Horace Silver – I adore this guy, and this is a great record of his. This copy is in super nice shape – all the way around. I was lucky to get 5 copies of this one a couple years back, and this was the best one I have/had.
The cover has less wear to it than I remembered – it is in really nice shape with a lot of the laminate holding up really well. There is a little smudgey fingerprint or price tag residue in the upper right corner – it might be cleanable (I didn’t try). The edges and spine are all solid, and there is only minor wear/age on the back cover in thee form of a couple random spots. It is in really nice shape.
The inner here is the 27 Years of Blue Note one in solid shape. I can include a new poly lined paper sleeve if you like – I prefer them to the old paper ones, generally. Labels are clean, free from marks or damages. The wax on this one, like the Shorter record, is wonderfully clean and free from issues. I do see some light storage related stuff on this one, but most of it looks like it will clean with a simple wipe down (I am very very careful with cleaning Blue Notes, because the labels are paint and can run if they get wet.) There were a couple super small marks I noted that likely will NOT clean out/off – but they were on side 2, were very small, and very random, so I can’t see them impeding the playback either. If you want a play test, I will happily spin this one any time – I am a big fan, and this is a sweet copy.
