Here we are looking at 3 copies of Duke Ellington’s Indigos – one mono, 2 stereo, all Columbia 6 eye (which indicates first press from 1958).
The first thing to note on these, is all of them are strong copies, none of them look played. They came from a MASSIVE collection where I got over 150 Duke LPs, most of them in rippingly good shape. I had other copies of this one, but these 3 are the best I have found so far. I will call them mono, (stereo) one and two.
All covers show a bit of rubbing/shelf wear to the front, nothing major. Note, one has a tiny bit of ballpoint on the front, “Clink” it says; and two has a small #3 on the back cover…this is significant only in the final cost (see the cost paragraph below). Of the 2 stereo copies, one is a better cover to me, because the back is cleaner. It has a little more rubbing to the front than two does. I talk in the clip about being willing to swap covers between one and two, but think I may want them to stay as they are…lemme know what you’re thinking anyway.
All labels on all sides are perfect, as far as I can see. I point out in the clip that there are no scuffies by the spindle, these are the indicators (as well as the hole itself showing wear) that the record got played a bunch. These were not only NOT played a lot, I didn’t see indicators they were played AT ALL. This is significant, because any scuffies are likely from the inner.
In the case of this record, two has the original inner, which was a plastic/waxxy one – and in my experience, these scuffed. Yet a lot of times, and more than otherwise, these are insignificant visual marks. It will depend on each record, each instance. The other 2 records have replaced inners, but the original tells you why there will almost always be some ghostly scuffies on these originals. They typically don’t go away, but they don’t play.
As for the actual wax on these, the mono triumphs them all. They are all clean, but the mono is simply one-bit cleaner -each of the stereo versions have the whisper scuffs I explained.

But my offer, is a flat $70 (inclusive with shipping) for your pick of ONE of the stereos with the mono, mailed anywhere in the continental US.
